    Question New (Used) Pistol Question

I just purchased a Rueger P94 40 cal (or so i thought) its a Rueger and it has P94 inscribed on the side but when you go to Ruegers web site it says the P94 came as 9mm only. The P944 comes in 40 cal but how do you definatively tell which this is? Thanx in advance..................Ogar

The P94 can in both flavors. 9mm and .40SW P94 is the 9mm and P944 is the .40SW. It's essentially the same gun just different calibers.

Is the problem you do not know calibre your gun is or you do not know what model your gun is?
If you are not sure about model you can look up the serial number on Ruger's website and that should tell you what model the frame is.

The slide on these will all say P94, it is the series type. The caliber stamped on the barrel and the serial number determine what you have. You said the barrel and the serial number indicate that it is a 40 caliber. You can safely order the springs and such for a 40 cal P94 (P944).

Also, if your not sure what parts to order, go to the Ruger website and download the manual for it, it will show you the correct part numbers for the P944.
