    Default Loader assist for 5.7

Buddy of mine was asking about a mag loading device for 5.7

He had gone to Amazon and seen a couple but nothing that would work the way he wants.

I think he is looking for something to load at least 10 rounds

He doesn't have a ruger. I forget which one he does have. I don't think it is the FN.

Any ideas on a mag loader for 5.7?

What is the way he wants? I've never seen a mag loader worth toting around for most pistols. The 5.7 included. Glock had the best thing going but I still refuse to use that as well.

Would be helpful to know which 5.7 pistol he has since there are at least five different ones right now - Ruger, FN, PSA, Tisas, S&W. The Excess Arms loader will work with just about any 5.7x28 mag that loads by pushing straight down, so PSA, Ruger, and S&W - NOT FN. For FN FiveseveN mags, your only option is the MakerShot loader. I can't speak to how the Tisas mags load. If they're like the PSA Rock or Ruger 57, then the Excess Arms might work.

The best magazine loader is Maglula, but they don't make one for 5.7x28 mags, unfortunately.

5.7 for pistols loads like 5.56, super easy, just press in the top. There's a lot of home made or DIY 5.56 loaders, maybe he can adapt one of those.

If he doesn't have the ruger or the FN, then that leaves the S&W and the PSA rock.

Or its the FN P90 or keltec P50, which take 50 round mags, which are a nightmare to load.

You forgot the Tisas PX-5.7. Supposedly a decent gun for under $300.

Should last pretty long. You aren't pressing that hard, and it just holds the rounds in place. Nothing in the path of the mag to break.

Custom Smith Manufacturing makes a doodad that helps with loading PS90 mags. Works pretty well. Not a speed loader, per se, but more of an assist device.

I agree with he doesn't need one. Tell him to stop being a wuss and load the mags. I've never met a mag loader that was worth a shit.

You haven't tried to fully load a S&W 5.7 mag, then. The last several rounds require a loader. And if you've never used a Maglula for non-5.7 mags, you don't know what you're missing.

I use a mag loader all the time for my S&W.
I am going to purchase the magula for myself. Loading outside in cold weather sucks and the loader makes it much easier.

He just said he has the TISAS. I sent him the link for the Excess Arms Loader. Thanks for the info.

Just looked up the Tisas mag. It loads just like the Ruger and PSA 5.7 mags - from the top like an AR mag. The Excess loader should work just fine for him.
