AR15 safety selector lever question
As I previously said, I have taken an interest in doing some mild modification and work on my AR15s. I'm sure this stuff is pretty boring for some, but I'm really enjoying learning about the gun.
One of my rifles has a "mushy" feeling when taking it off safe or putting back on safe. I realize that's probably not overly important but I wanted it to be more distinctive or positive when using it.
My question is: will just merely replacing it get me what I am looking for? Is it just luck of the draw or should I be buying a certain brand name replacement part?
Thanks for any help.

Re: AR15 safety selector lever question
If the parts you have are in good condition and properly made, try a stronger selector detent spring. A strong spring here controls the "snap" of the selector.

Re: AR15 safety selector lever question
If the lower is threaded all the way thru the grip screw hole, you can run a small hex cap machine screw up thru it and set tension against the bar at the back of the trigger. Benefit is two-fold: stiffens up safety to an audible click and shortens pre travel. Should be able to youtube it

Re: AR15 safety selector lever question
Just an update on the mushy safety selector. I removed the grip, mostly assuming that I had bent the safety detent spring while replacing the A2 grip. Wrong! The spring was fine and the safety detent was installed properly. Looking closely at the safety detent, I could see some slight damage on the pointed end, kind of like there had been metal on metal at some point in time. Whether that was my fault while changing grips, I don't know. I replaced the safety detent and the safety now has a very positive snap when putting it on or off safe.
Thanks for all the help!
