AR15 safety selector lever question

Just an update on the mushy safety selector. I removed the grip, mostly assuming that I had bent the safety detent spring while replacing the A2 grip. Wrong! The spring was fine and the safety detent was installed properly. Looking closely at the safety detent, I could see some slight damage on the pointed end, kind of like there had been metal on metal at some point in time. Whether that was my fault while changing grips, I don't know. I replaced the safety detent and the safety now has a very positive snap when putting it on or off safe.

Glad you got it figured out and working properly. The detent always has metal-on-metal contact with the safety lever, so maybe the detent was damaged some other way, or not made properly to begin with, or was not a quality piece.

I got a bad out of spec safety lever in a CMMG AR10 LPK. The channel that the detent rides in wasn't machined properly, and I could barely move the lever at all. The detent was all boogered up and there were some fine metal shavings on it.

I took it out and cleaned out the channel as best I could and worked it back and forth for a while. It feels about normal now with a new detent, but I still want to swap it out with another safety.

I bought a CMMG ambi mag release that wasn't finished properly. Had burr/rough metal that scraped the lower, causing it not to move well. Makes me think they don't have very good QC.
