Default Troy Sights on a flat top...

I put the Troy sights on my flat top AR-15 this evening.

When I fold the front sight down it "clicks" in the down position.

When I fold the rear sight down it hits the rail before the "click".

If I take the rear sight off the gun and fold the sight down it "clicks" into the down position.

My questions are if anyone else uses Troy Sights, and do they "click" into the down position or do they hit your rail?

    Thanks!

I only have the rear Troy sight and it clicks before it hits the rail.

Hmmm... Is it possible to install the sight incorrectly?

I took it back off twice to make certain I was installing it correctly.

Never installed a Troy sight, so I'm not sure what the problem is.

Does it matter what sight aperture you are using? I know my ARMS 40 rear sight will only fold down and lock into place when using the large aperture. If I use the small aperture it hits the sight base. I always thought of this as the weakness of the ARMS 40 sight.

Just a guess without seeing the problem.

Which apeture is up when you are folding it down? Because due to the design it will not lay flat unless the large apeture is up when you fold it down.

I have the large aperture up. Flipping the small aperture up makes it worse.

Are you installing so the sight folds to the rear?

Bingo! We have a winner folks!

I was installing it so it folded forward. After reading your post I glanced at the directions. They clearly state that the site is to be mounted so it folds to the rear.

    Thanks everyone for your help!

And before anyone asks.... Yes I had the front site installed backwards too. Maybe when I grow up I'll start reading directions! Nah.

    I gotta' get out more...

Ironically I sent an email to Buckmark 5 minutes ago stating that since I already know everything I figured it would be a waste of time to read the directions.

Hey, if it was easy women & small kids would be doing it, right Michele?
