Re: Pioneer Gun Shop (Blair County)
I was in there twice. They followed me around wherever I went and acted like my presence in their store was an inconvenience. I got the feeling that they wanted me to leave without buying anything, so I did. This was in 2004/2005, and their prices were ridiculously high.
Why even bother when within 30 miles we have the Allegheny Trade Co., East Coast Gun Sales, Frederick's Gun Shop in Woodbury, Belding and Mull in Philipsburg, and so many other places that act like they care about customers? I give almost every shop in the area a thumbs up, with one exception: Pioneer.

Pioneer gun shop is not a support group for individuals looking for validation or companionship it’s a gun shop!

Re: Pioneer Gun Shop (Blair County)
I have had mixed expeirences with this shop. I have bought one gun there. If they Know you they treat you good, If not they dont. Last time I was in their looking around I wasnt made to feel real comfortable when I asked if he had what I was looking for He was real helpful(after he realized I was spending some money). He basically told me there are enough shops if people dont like him or his prices they can go elsewere. I thought that was pretty straight forward. I know a bunch of people that know him personally and he treats them great. Hell the father in-law and my neighbor just picked up guns off him and they were treated like gold (cause he knows them). I on the other hand will see if the stuff I want can be gotten elsewere before going in. Out of the six shops in the immedaite area they rate number five.

I have to agree with most, he is an ass.. but he does have a lot of stuff there. I do go there when looking for something odd and he usually has it. Bottom line I would say if you are looking for a rem 700 to hunt with, go somewhere else, if you are looking for an old winchester, or old military rifle, he is going to have one. If not upstairs then probably somewhere in the basement or one of his other buildings.

Re: Pioneer Gun Shop (Blair County)
Visited this shop last Tuesday and was treated terribly. After entering the store and waiting about 20 minutes while the owner waited on other customers (which I was fine with), I was greeted with “Ok, What’s your problem”. I said, “I really don’t have one. I am just interested in looking at a few revolvers” His response was “Well which one do you want to finger all up." I looked at one Ruger and left.
I work about 5 minutes from the shop and don’t ever plan on returning. I understand and have dealt with many un-personable people in the past but the way others and myself were treated was downright disrespectful.
