    Grey area.

Lots of braces use the same buffer tube as a stock. Then there's some buffer tubes that only accept their braces. Then there's buffer tubes that just have a foam thing on the end.

If it's going to be used in video then there will be an abundance of evidence. And while I don't see the winds swinging back the way they were a year ago any time soon, I would go as featureless as possible to be on the safe side. Safe queen's, on the other hand, you do what you want.

All length 300 bo uppers use a pistol length gas system.
Some of the longer 300bo projectiles(sub sonic) have issues with 556 mags.
Suppressed sub sonic 300 bo does not require hearing pro.

I know you didn't ask these questions, just throwing out some of the differences between 300bo and 556.

Yes this lower will have never been used before on anything.
Just making an attempt to help you out with legalities here. You have stated you have not built or assembled any AR pistols in the past. The lower(s) you have sitting around on the shelf to maybe be used someday probably are NOT registered as pistols. What forms did you fill out when you got them? I would go to an FFL with the lower you are going to use and explain to the FFL that you want to Reg. it as a pistol. Just looking out for ya.

If you buy a "virgin" lower, just have it transferred as a firearm (or "other"). I cannot recall if you can choose "firearm" or "other"...it's just that you aren't designating it as either at the moment. You can build it as you like. If you have it transferred as a rifle, then you cannot legally build it into a pistol (it would be considered a short barreled rifle).
