Moving Out Of State

I'm a PA resident with a permit to carry. I'll be moving to NJ and my question is...will my permit be of any use, any longer, any where?
Or will it be rendered invalid because of moving out of the state that issued the permit. Must I have valid state ID from the state that issued the CCW or is the permit valid until it's expiration date regardless of my state of residency? I know the permit is good for five years, but does that time frame evaporate if I move out of state??
Whats the procedure for transferring the permit to NJ? I know that state is anti-gun, but can the permit help when applyingfor a NJ permit?

Born and raised in NJ... I'm also a supporter of concealed carry laws. My advise, stay in PA.

Your permit is worthless here and will not help you get a CCW permit in NJ. Unless you are law enforcement, don't bother spending the money on applying for a carry permit in NJ - waste of money and time. You will not get one.

My understanding of PA laws is that you would need to keep your residence in PA for your permit to be valid there. Once you move, the permit is not longer valid as it's a resident permit. (I'm sure someone more in the know here will correct that if I'm wrong). You can however, get the Florida non-res which is valid in PA.

Also, any guns you own with mags that hold over 15 rounds will be illegal here. Don't bring hi-cap mags into NJ. You cannot have assault rifles here (check with NJ, many of the weapons termed 'assault' are not what you and I would consider assault weapons. Pretty much anything with a folding stock and pistol grip (even if it's a 22lr) are illegal in NJ. I could go on and on, but to keep this short I recommend you look at the NJ state police website and read up on the gun laws that you'll need to comply with when you move to NJ... You need a Firearms ID card to purchase a BB gun in NJ -- 'nough said.

You PA license will still be good until it expires or is revoked, and will be good for reciprocal usage for states that honor non-resident licenses.

You will be SOL for NJ carrying though. The rarely issue unless you give head to the issuing authorities, donate $50K to someone election fund, or become and LEO or elected official.

Ah, and now he will have to get a "NJ Purchasers" permit for each firearm that he has including long guns and BB guns! Correct? Will he have to document that he is the registered owner of all those firearms?

He will need a NJ Firearms Purchesers ID for long guns, but the pemit is good for as long as you live in NJ and any number of long guns, also recently they made a law that you need this permit to buy rifle or handgun ammo. Strangly you can still buy shotshells with out the permit.
