I remember when my 1200 baud Hayes Smart Modem was an upgrade, and enough.

I don't think this was an intentional DDoS attack. ...just a business being invasive with their spyder/bot software.

Most of the queries were from the same 5-10, no more than 20, IP addresses from Alibaba. Just attempts to look at thousands of PAFOA pages in a short period of time. Almost as if they were scanning for something, like key words, or copying like the Internet Archive used to do.

I was enough to case fatal errors with vBuild for too many users/connections. From what DanP texted me yesterday, it was eating bandwidth like crazy.

I had blocked the Vietnam IP range awhile ago, but there were a few in the list from it as well trying to view pages.

They use webcrawlers to scoop up email address and any other personal information like phone numbers and home addresses they can find that is displayed. I tell my members to not display their email addresses or phone numbers especially in the Classifieds and do all their business through PM or email. Email addresses are not displayed on my forum if you are not a member that is logged in. That's a lot easier to control on my small forum than it would be on a huge membership forum like this one.
