Default New York / NYC carry license

I just got my New Jersey permit and added it to my growing collection. (PA, UT, AZ, ME, CT, NJ)

I'm researching New York, and specifically New York City. Yes, I'm aware how neutered it is with their sensitive areas and stuff like that, but my niece lives in Manhattan and I'm interested in including that as a destination to my ABC (Always Be Carrying) rotation.

Has anyone gone through the process as a non-resident?

P.S. Please don't turn this into a NY sucks thread. That part is obvious. New Jersey is pretty bad too, but I manage to work within the confines if their limitations too.

I haven't seen anyone report on that and there have been some recent wins in NY but I don't know the details.

Call Howard Stern ask how he got his.

They recently neutered the neutering. The most impactful change is the private property "opt out" - where it was a felony to carry on private property unless you had been expressly informed (by signage or other means) that you could. That has been declared unconstitutional.

We won't talk about how it took years to arrive at such a painfully obvious conclusion.
