I don't know how OC friendly Jim Thorpe is but there is a SGL up Rt93. It has a pistol range (25-50 yds) and a rifle side (100-300 yds). I have been to Jim Thorpe a million times also, I have only OC'ed in the Turkey Hill gas station. Didn't have any problems, but never around town though. If you need directions to the range let me know.

The State Game Lands (SGL) #141 public shooting range is located here in Google Maps. Generalized directions from Jim Thorpe, PA can be found here.

Note that those who shoot at a Game Commission public shooting range are required to have either a valid Pennsylvania hunting/trapping license or an annual $30 range use permit as per this Game Commission notice. Annual range use permits can be purchased here.
