Default Re: Get Bodyguard 2.0 or keep Glock 42

I'm not really a .380 fan, have owned "a few" of them over the years, and have shot "more than a few" too. With that said, the Glock 42 is my second favorite Glock, after the 19 of course

I've owned four Glock 42s, all have been 100% reliable. But in the end, they have all been sold off. Two went to buddies, one of them is still EDCing it.

My last 42 was vying for the role of my "I'm not carrying a gun" gun. But, I kept my S&W Model 38 Bodyguard (the original bodyguard) for that role. Just a more versatile platform for my needs. Who knows, I might pick up another 42 down the road.

OP, good luck on your decision, my recommendation though, keep the 42.
Tomorrow's battle is won during today's practice.

Upgrade the Indian, not the arrow. Spend the money on a two day pistol class to make you a better shooter. The software is far more important than the hardware. Sig Academy is in New Hampshire and it is lovely this time of year. Your ability is far more important than some minor feature differences between two similar products.

We're not talking about minor differences. It's a significant change from most other pocket .380s on the market. Shooting fundamentals are important, but so is finding a gun that fits you. If the gun you're using doesn't work for you, no amount of training will fix that.

While it is true that pistol cartridges will provide very close results, this applies to a starting point of 9mm. There is a notable difference ballistically, in past years, using anything below 9mm such as 380, 25 or 32ACP or 22lr.(Although modern ammunition design has helped tremendously.) Not that all of these other cartridges won*t kill. They certainly will kill! But the goal in a defensive situation is to STOP, not to kill. In an attack, a human being will stop through blood loss or central nervous system disruption. That*s it. Foot pounds of energy does not stop a person, in reference to the amounts in pistol cartridges. The 398ft.lbs. of the 9mm & the 712ft.lbs. of energy from the 10mm are ballistically equal when a human body is the target. However, the slightly larger 10mm does crush more tissue & can help with blood loss. Again though, modern hollow point ammunition has pretty much defeated that difference.

So, for that reasoning* I say get rid of the 42 and get a 43, if you like the Glock & that small slimness. Though, I prefer the S&W Shield in the slim, single stack department. And I prefer the G26 size with 12rd mags over the Shield. Now, going with just your question, although I prefer the Shield to the G43, I prefer your G42 to the Bodyguard. (I know, I know* strange) But, as always, thats me. I say go with your gut.

I recently won a gun on a gun raffle and didn't want the gun listed. I chose to pick up the 2.0 because it was closest to the in-store credit offered.
I brought it home Frog lubed it and went to re assemble and the recoil spring was seized solid. S&W sent me a new recoil spring and its the same issue.
