Agreed.... however what is to stop us from using those parts to make selective fire weapons?

This, I think, is what troubles these Elitists.

Personally, I think that people are stressing over nothing. Making unregistered/untaxed or unbooked selective fire weapons has been illegal for decades. The BATF&E is capable of finding out who is doing what. People who obey the law, follow the 922r rules and keep it legal are just recycling old parts.

Then again look at the current "Glock Switch" controversy. I've read accounts that online advertisements for these sometimes have Washington DC origins.... In other words, a very legal and very clever Sting operation.

I guess cops are unwilling to go after mobs of feral thugs who are armed with machineguns and have zero impulse control, especially when they're minors who are exempt from criminal prosecution, even if the DA's were willing to try.

MUCH safer for cops & FBI & ATF to focus on white suburban grandpas with a rusty WW II bringback. Those guys won't shoot cops, and the DA's are happy to throw them in jail.

Probably more likely, begging your pardon, the local Federal Attorney wants to get both Switches and drugs on the docket. They love to "roll up drug gangs". Such cases take a lot of time to build, right? Just grabbing some juvenile for a switch is good for a brief wailing session, but getting a table covered in bags of drugs, bundles of cash and evil Glocks with extended mags and "switches" is the sort of thing that makes any Politician happy.

These cases take time to structure, prosecute and execute.

Granddad's rusty old Schmeisser is easy meat. He did not waltz in to the Federal Building back in 1968 during the Amnesty, so he's meat on a plate. The local BATF&E office can "asset forfeit" Grandpa's hunting rifles, bring back bolt action rifles and handguns. Proclaiming that "we took an arsenal off of the street" they can lay this "arsenal" on a table. Local urban Reps who get screaming emails and phone calls from Constituents concerned about drug gangs spraying rounds everywhere are somewhat mollified.

There is also the Diversity issue.... getting Grandpa into Federal detention for a few days counts as an incarceration of a white person. This "offsets" decades long sentences of dumb kids of color who CHOSE to traffic in drugs, live large, die young and then go off to the hellish life that many expected growing up. Attention to such "diversity statistics" makes the life of the local Federal DA much easier.

The Hood is a victim of City Hall. Hyper-regulation. Economic apartheid, and not that's a bad choice of words.

120 years ago immigrants and poor folks could start a scratch business with push carts, door to door sales or being a handiman. People leveraged their margins into permanent occupations, then sometimes stayed and sometimes moved up. Permits and certifications killed those routes out.

Frontage requirements, parking requirements, special insurances, high license fees and zoning.... these act as a barrier to legitimate business. Community Policing scours Urban areas looking for illegal businesses, tax dodgers, zoning violators, people doing business for cash!! These scofflaws get tickets and are harassed out of the game.

If you have short time preferences, refusing to do things like scrimp and save for an education, or accepting the discipline of military life, why not put your biggest asset to work? Your stout heart and quick hands. Others in your world have done this for a time. They earn big money, drive nice cars, and get respect.

All you have to do is grind. Start out young as a lookout. Look for police or rivals in the racket.

Later move up to sales. Approach people to market the product. Prove your worth. On your first arrest? Keep quiet, don't snitch.

If you are found worthy, you will earn more. If you are weak or a snitch, you move on. Maybe you have to put in a little work. Maybe you can move up to mid level work?

Start with hands, maybe a gun. Juveniles don't get the charges adults get. That gat won't shoot itself.

If you are in a gang? Now you have love and brotherhood. The gang will teach, coach and support you.

Meth and Coke are junk. Save them for dumb customers.

The War on Drugs is a war. European drug kingpins don't get decades in jail, so they are not desperadoes. We chose a war, and wars have casualties.
