And I thought I was the only one pissed about the tar and chip around here. Every freakin road around my area is getting treated and you can't get away from the tar and chip destruction of your vehicle. Make the road smooth first, no, just add to the bumps.

As for PA's oil and chips, it does extend service life of highway surfaces, but more importantly the practice facilities the transfer of PennDOT funds to SEPA and SCPA and around Dauphin County where the roads are in much better condition and are often repaved rather than oiled and chipped. Follow the money.

The oiling and chipping in Elk County is second rate, because the local district PennDOT office doesn't grind and strip patch surface defects prior to the O&C resurfacing. The O&C here is nothing more than a cheap new dress on an old whore. SR948 between Kersey and the 948 intersection with US219 at "Boot Jack" is an object case in point, particularly near and in front of Horizon Wood Products. The "gullies" in 948's surface throw my Wrangler and Gladiator. I veer into the other lane to avoid those spots, and have done so when followed by PSP from the nearby Ridgway station. I've not been stopped for failing to stay right of center, and some of the troopers actually follow me into the other lane.

My biggest gripe is, you canít fill potholes and other road imperfections and expect the repair to last, when you start with a hole full of water. Yeah, you heard me correctly. Idiots! They filled holes on River Rd along the Delaware after a rainy night. Repairs lasted barely a day. Patch job was toast. Could have done a better job ourselves.

If anyone is interested, rt 196 between Hamlin and 507 is being oiled and chipped. Also Spring Hill/Neville rd from Rt 196 all the way over to rt 690. Can't get away from the BS.
