Default Red White and Blue December Shoot at LRGC

    Folks,

Our next event at the Langhorne Rod and Gun Club will be held on Saturday December 27th and will be titled Red, White and Blue December. This event will feature the following:

Get the picture? But of course your capitalist rifles are welcome at this event as well! Please plan on arriving between 9:00am-9:30am. Note, this will not be as theatric as our Zombie match. Please plan on bringing food and water and remember this is an outdoor event so dress accordingly as we go rain snow or shine! Feel free to email me with any questions at lastdefender@aol.com and if you are joining us, please email me with the number in your party.

    Good Shooting Comrades!

    Gary

There will be no precision component in December. We'll be focusing exclusively on the Kalashnikov match. This event is a russian/american re-enactment, and you are free to wear either US or Russian gear from either the WWII genre, cold-war era, or preesent day. US flags only though.

We have a grand prize as well for the highest scoring iron-sighted kalashnikov shooter. It is a spring loaded, reactive target from our sponsor,http://lvsteeltargets.com It is 5/8" thick ar500 steel, and sits on a heavy duty spring base, and comes with stakes to affix it securely to the ground.

    The load-out will be:

20 rounds pistol (any capitalist pistol will do)

150 rounds rifle (Kalashnikov, sks, etc) 3 magazines minimum

65 rounds rifle (mosin nagant, garand, etc)

We will shoot from CQB distance out to 200Y, and the event will be loosely focused around a sort of Q-Course. Some of the stages that shooters told me they have been missing, like the close DT and the 3-reload will be back again.

Will your score make Spetznaz green with envy, or tempt the bourgeoisie to send you back to the factory????

    Only time will tell......

I can't wait, because I missed the zombie shoot.
But I will be there with my Kalashinkov's.

Other than the amount of mags and ammo, are slings required?

Humm I'll be home on leave.
What's the course of fire? Postions/ rds per?
Other than gun/ammo/mags- what's good gear to bring along.
I want to make sure I pack out from VA correctly.

A sling would be strongly recommended but not required.

    Rosco,

Welcome home and thank you for your service. You will need at least 150 rifle rounds and 20 pistol rounds. We are an outdoor event so please dress for conditions. We go rain snow sleet or shine. I would suggest bringing some water, ear and eye protection, a decent pair of boots and any specific food you may want. This way if you don't like what we're serving, you won't starve.

Please bring a strong side holter for your pistol. We look forward to seeing you on the 27th.

    Regards,
    Gary

    So how is it shot?
I see the 200rd is prone, but is it single load?
    Is it timed?
    What's the "berm" postion?
    What's the pistol part?

I'm just trying to get smart on this.

I cleared that day, I am so going to this, too bad it's up there I have 2-3 people down here that would go if it was here.

    Rosco,

For this match I believe there will be little in the way of 200 yard shooting for the carbine shooters. I would expect you would be shooting mostly from 15-100 yards. We do have some timed evolutions but nothing too dramatic. Mostly it's you against yourself. The berm is a part of our range that seperates the 100 from the 200 yard targets. We've been known to "storm the berm" and take up defensive positions and then fire at the 200 yard targets from the 100 yard berm. The pistol stage will be to engage selected targets at shorter distances.

    I hope this helps.

    Regards,
    Gary

Well, no. But thanks for the answers so far.
    Sorry to be a PITA.
    I was thinking something like
Start @ 25Y line- with a mag of XX rds
Fire at XX target(s) in XX time frame, reload with mag of XX
    Shoot target XX
    So on.
But as long as I don't go first I can figure it out that day.

I'm going to pack out my 56S-1 with sling
    6-30rd mags and 1 5rd.
