    Default Gas preservative/treatment for storage

I try to keep some gas on hand and have been using PRI-G for the last 7-8 years or so. I also try to only store pure gas if I can get it. I have not had any problems with the PRI brand but wondered if there is anything better out there?

I realize it sounds dumb to ask for other options if PRI works for me but I thought I would check. The longest I have stored and then used the gas is about 2-3 years.

So, am I wasting my time trying to do better or does anyone have a better option?

I've always used Sta-bil with excellent results.

How much gas are you talking about? I generally store 5 - 10 gallons for the generator and snow blower and have used Sta-bil. What I do is in the spring and fall I dump the gas in the cars and refill the cans.

I find it better to just cycle through the stored gas twice a year.
30 gallons of stored fuel is enough to tank up 2 of my cars completely.
I drain-n-fill them all around may, then the same around november.

I use Sta-bil too and have never had any problems with it. You can use avgas and not worry about it. It contains no alcohol and evaporates clean so it leave no residue but it has more lead in it than leaded gasoline used to so don't use it in your cars with cats.

I have always had two spare five gallon cans and then inherited five, five gallon cans when my father in law died. I just can't seem to get rid of the cans and have been storing most of the cans full after using some for lawn equipment. With the current events I started to think maybe I should store all full with treatment added for longer term storage.

After my first wife died, I didn't winterize my lawn equipment because I had other things on my mind. I read reviews about PRI-G and how it helped get neglected small engines started and since I had that problem, I tried it. It worked, so I switched from Sta-bil. I guess I was just trying to see if there is anything better as I need to replace my nearly empty container of PRI.

It's also quite possible that I'm making a problem where none exists.
