I don't think off body carry is optimal. That being said, I would look at purse carry as another method for an experienced carrier, rather than a bridge to on body carry by someone new to concealed carry.

I know women face some wardrobe challenges that men don't. Look into the Phlster Enigma as a carry method that eliminates relying on a belt, or even pants.

9 out of 10 times my wife and I are doing something we're together and I carry. For the 1 out of 10 times we're not together she carries in her purse I got that has a section dedicated for her gun. I realize it's less than ideal but better than the gun sitting at home in a safe. I've got her a dedicated custom holster and a belly belt but she won't use either so it is what it is. Here is the one I got her:

Looks good. I agree one at home in a safe is no good.

If you haven't already done so, maybe you and wife can check out the video Ronin
posted in post #14. Looks like some really good ideas and advice relating to purse
type carry, created by a woman who seems to be very knowledgeable.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.
