.222 Remington Mag
hey i dont know if anyone has started a thread on this topic. but i promised a friend i would look into and find out all i could about the .222 Mag. I know that factory loads are obsolete. i cant find them anywhere. i know that i can find some brass, but this friend doesnt want to take the time to get ammo reloaded. im still going to do it for him anyway. i have no other choice. but does anyone know if obsolete ammo is available anywhere online? also can .222 mag brass be made from existing brass? thanks for your input as always guys...

yeah the 204 ruger is the 222 rem mag with a shorter neck and necked down for the 20 caliber they are the exact same case. but it will be alot of work to neck them up.

Re: .222 Remington Mag
I recommend that you buy few hundred cases and start loading. Yes, it can be made from the .204, but no reason to do it if you can buy cases. Midway should stock them.
I do not have the .222 Mag, but it is a great cartridge, just did not make muster with the military and was passed over for the 5.56mm. I believe it was introduced about 1958 or so. Should be easy to load.

I can't find my link for this place, but I have heard of "The Old Western Scounger". This place is supposed to find ANYTHING. Maybe a Google search can locate the place for you.

thanks uni for the western scrounger idea. i went there and they do have just about everything. but alas not the .222 mag. they have plenty of esoteric, obsolete, and just strange cartridges. heck just about everything, im definitely bookmarking this page, hopefully in the future they will carry the .222 mag.

Re: .222 Remington Mag
You are welcome. Sorry you couldn't find the brass. .222 Rem. Mag. was supposed to be the round for the original M-16's. They turned their noses up at it and took the .223, not a whole lot of difference in between the two rounds, but the Military thought it was a quantum leap in just a few F.P.S., and and couple Ft. Lbs. of energy. I wish you well on your brass quest, I'll try to look around for some sources for you.
