    Default Budget 10mm 1911

I'm looking at getting a budget 10mm 1911 to play around with. I have it down to 5 models that have peaked my interest. I have limited if any real life handling of the brands on my list. Any insight as to anything to stay away from or ones to definitely get would be appreciated.

    1. Girsan MC1911S 6" barrel.
    2. Armscor Rock Ultra double stack.
    3. Iver Johnson Eagle XI 6" barrel.
    4. Rock Island Tac 2011
    5. Rock Island 1911A1 Tactical

Think they're most or all foreign, and most of them are from the Philippines. Have the RIA version in 16 round variety myself, not many rounds down the tube yet, but happy so far.

I have the RIA Ultra FS 10mm, I like it. Recoil is manageable, shoots straight, all around good gun. The only "gripe" I have with it is the grips. They chew my hands up, but thats an easy fix. I just don't really shoot it enough to bother changing them.

You may want to call them to verify, but Tanner's carries Rock Island and Girsan. I've seen 10mm Rock Island 1911s there before. They may have Girsan, as well. Not far from you and worth the trip regardless.

I used Tanner's website to help narrow down the list. They seem to have the most 1911s in stock.

    The Girsan.

I went with a Rock Island FS double stack. I like the fiber optic front sight and adjustable rear sight. I didn't have a double stack 1911 frame yet, so figured this would be a good time to get one. RIA seemed to get a lot of good reviews and for $700 out the door, it seemed like worth trying out. I haven't had a chance to shoot it yet, but I'm gonna try to get out this week.
