Re: Philly Police Ammo
Based on Directive 10-6, the approved ammo is:
C. Ammunition
1. Revolvers
a. Smith & Wesson: city-issued, .38 caliber, 125-grain, semi-jacketed, hollow
point, +P ammunition only.
2. Glock Pistols
a. Models 17, 19, and 26: city-issued 9mm Caliber, 147-grain, jacketed hollow
point ammunition only.
b. Models 22, 27, and 35: city-issued .40 Caliber, 180-grain, jacketed hollow
point ammunition only.
c. Models 21, 21-SF, 30, and 30-SF: city-issued .45 Auto Caliber 230-grain,
jacketed hollow point ammunition only.
I assume commercial manufacturer and brand are determined by winning bid of the solicitation & its specifications.IANAL

Re: Philly Police Ammo
Eh. Commissioner Ramsey allowed us to carry 9mm, 40 S&W, 45ACP. And the approved ammo at the time was Federal HST. 9mm I believe was 124 grain.
I carry a .40 and originally they had 165 grain for the street and 180 grain for SWAT. Not sure what grain the 45 ACP was.
Now I get issued Winchester Ranger 40 S&W 180 grain (RA40T).
They are pushing for everyone to go back to 9mm for tactical, weight and logistic issues. And I believe Winchester Ranger T Series is the approved 9mm.
I am not sure who the distributor is, but minority and female owner usually gets preference.
