    Default 504 Gateway Timeout

Per thread title, in the last 2 weeks and mostly the last week I've
been seeing this maybe 30% of the time when opening PAFOA.

Also the site can be VERY slow to respond upon opening, lurking,
or posting a response, even when no error is shown.

I get 2 error results, the 504 is simply the one I just saw. If I see the
other error result I will post a screenshot.

    Just an FYI for staff.

I've been getting this one recently.

    At least it's something different.

Thanks. Not the 1st time I've heard folks suggest Brave.

However, I think I've been using Firefox now for decades so I know it
really well and I'm quite comfortable with it.
It has never let me down, operates with a quickness, and goes everywhere
I want it to go, does everything I need it to do. I'm reluctant to make a
change unless and until I have no other choice.

But I'll re-phrase and say that if I had to change tomorrow, Brave would
probably be the first browser I would check.

    ^Yes! That's it. Thanks!
That is exactly what I was referring to when I mentioned
"the other one" in my OP.

It is interesting that when you click on your notifications, it takes FOREVER to come up, every time, even if the rest of the site is fine.

What the hell is the deal with notifications?

I use FF as well, but lately its been hell with youtube, so I cleared all the cookies and whatnot. It does work better,
but live streams suck when you want to skip around the video.

I access the forum via Safari on a high-end iPad, yet issues persist all day. Also disappointed that my annual membership contributions don't seem to help, (i.e., unsure how the $ is spent).

Thanks for dedicating a thread to the ongoing problem, Curmudgeon.

I use Brave and occasionally I'll get a time out while posting one of my educational and well informed posts but if I open another tab while the spinny spin is trying to make up it's mind the post has already been posted in the new tab. It happens occasionally. The worst thing about Brave is their search isn't very good when doing in depth research and sometimes you have to revert to Google to find certain products or the "oh no" dark web on Tor for censored non narrative subjects Google excludes.

A motorcycle forum I frequent recently updated their software. A couple weeks prior to the update, I contacted the owner and asked about the cost of upgrading and that I would be willing to donate to help. He said it's only a couple hundred bucks, but thanks for the offer.

How much can it cost to get this place upgraded to something current with these abilities?

    Notifications if you're quoted
Click on a thread and be taken to the last post you previously viewed
Tags to notify members that they have been 'called' to a thread
Maybe even 'voting' on posts with like, dislike, sad, etc.

The MC forum I mentioned is better, but not fantastic.

I hate to admit it, lol, but the AK Files is probably one of the best software formats I've seen. Depending on the cost, I think we might be able to raise some funds to upgrade here. The last one seems to have brought us to only being 5 years out of date.
