I have 9 calibers stored up, but some of them are for milsurp bolt action rifles with a 5 round capacity, so thousands of rounds aren't on my priority list for them. I even have a bunch of 7.62 Nagant for a Nagant revolver I never bought. They were supposed to be much cheaper than Tokarevs, but then weren't, so I went with the Tokarev.

Having guns in the same caliber is a plus. Should something happen to your favorite or goto 9mm gun when you need it, it's reassuring to have a backup or three. Or four.

I definitely have more guns than ammo to feed them.

Every time I think I should sell a few, something on the news reminds me of how badly certain people want to end gun ownership PERIOD, so I just hold on to what I have.

Also, not a bad idea to have multiple platforms for different calibers:

    AR15 + .223 bolt action rifle.
    .357/.38 spl. revolver + .357 lever gun.
    9mm pistol + 9mm PCC.
    AR10 + .308 bolt gun.

Hmm . . . that reminds me, I should prolly get a 7.62×39mm bolt gun.

I have heard good things about the Ruger American Ranch.

They're probably the best option, though the mini-30 mag is a detriment. You can however swap the magazine well out and use 7.62x39 AR magazines, which are a huge improvement.

No, over the last few years I have downsized my firearms quite a bit. In addition to that, I have been buying more ammo. Should be good to go, but one never truly knows...

I don't buy firearms with calibres that I don't already have. I have seven different calibres and if a firearm doesn't shoot one of those seven calibres it's of no use to me. Three or possibly four of those calibres are the ones most likely to be had from no longer active government employees during SHTF.

I tend to do opposite of you - I seek out guns in calibers that I don't have. ...typically oddball things.

I have at least one gun of each of these, and in some cases multiple guns in that caliber.
