Good price, but way too small. I think my NOCO is 3000 amp. Good for all cars and small trucks. But it also cost 3 times as much.

Jump starting a vehicle is the only real "need".
Being able to charge a phone or something is a nice added benefit, but starting a vehicle is really the only reason I would buy one to keep on hand.

EDIT: it say "engines up to 4 liter"
Mine is a 4.2, so it's right there at the max for this unit.

I'm not willing to pay more. If the battery dies, I have AAA, and they can bring me a new battery and install it for less money than a bigger jump start gizmo would cost.

Now I'm curious how the NOCO Boost Sport GB20 500A jump starter (above) compares to the HALO we have already.

The "what can this jump start" info is pretty vague - it claims it will jump start "all cars and full size SUVs".

The "power" is listed as follows and it's all Greek to me.

I've been Googling, looking for some sort of "calculator" that shows how the two units compare in terms of "power strength" to start a vehicle.

Is the HALO similar to the NOCO GB20 in jump starting ability?
Is it more powerful/capable?
Is it not even in the same league?

I have no idea how to compare the two.

Any thoughts?


EDIT: I found this review - it claims the HALO has 500A jump start capability - so same as the NOCO GB20 (if accurate)

The Halos will start a car with no problem. The wife has one and got some for the kids. Of course they all use them for charging their phones and IPads, so they're almost always dead.

From what I'm reading, I figure that it will start a car with a partially drained battery - too low to turn over, but not completely drained.

Seems like you need something with at least twice the amps to start from dead.

I'm pissed because when we GOT the HALO, I sid, I'm going to put the wall charger "here", so we don't lose it.
I can't remember where "here" was. LOL

Looks like I can get replacement charge adapters on Amazon.
I never know if it's safe to use wall charger gadgets from other devices - I have no idea what the electrical "numbers" mean when I look at the specs.
