The spring pressure against the gate is much higher and the gate itself is narrower. It*s easier to load .44s and .45s as well.

I've never understood the appeal of the mare's leg. Other than the cool factor, it seems like a novelty to me. And nothing wrong with getting something just because it's cool or a novelty. If it were, half my collection would be wrong.
This makes no sense to me. A mare's leg doesn't hold enough to be practical, so the added expense of a tax stamp and a stock doesn't seems worth the effort. But to each their own, I supposed.
I would consider SBR'ing the new Henry Lever Action Supreme in .300BLK, however. It takes AR mags, so no worries about a short magazine tube.
