I'm planning to take the wife and 5 year old to the Philly Auto Show this Saturday. It's at the convention center next to Chinatown/Reading Terminal.

Anyone know if they wand to do pat downs?

I don't recall having to put up with any pat searches the last few times I attended the car show,but that was a few years ago and things might have changed now.

per the website, metal detectors will be used at all entrances. i stopped going to the show years ago cause i cant stand the people and they way they act. it also seems like some manufacturers were starting to pull out of shows like this.

maybe. that might be why they also have a warning that one seen carrying a firearm will be removed unless they are an on duty, in uniform police.

Yes, there are metal detectors at the show. Even if they didn't have them, I'd recommend against going there. Half the auto vendors are missing again this year. You'd be better off going to the PA Auto Show in Harrisburg next week. At least they will have better brand representation. Can't speak to the metal detector thing there, however.

Do they make you remove all items before passing through metal detectors. Then wand/pat down after or is it more of a show?

We went on Thursday and I did not carry. They had metal detectors and none of us emptied our pockets. My wife had a small napsack that was not searched.

Just an update, no pat downs or emptying of bags/pockets, no wanding. I did see what looked like metal detectors but they could just be for show. I wasnt carrying.
