    Default Sign on Bank Door

Noticed a small sign on PNC Bank door. They request all hats, hoods and sunglasses be removed before entering the bank as a safety precaution for their customers.

Yep, read something similar I saw in a Members 1st credit union branch this week. It stated 'you may be asked to remove your hat and/or sunglasses.'

That is so that in the event you are there to rob the place you are easily identifiable. Alot of Pizza places have a height chart next to the doors so that when they get robbed they can say how tall the perp was rather than rely in the employee or witnesses account.

Heck people, you should be removing your covers as you enter indoors anyway.

What about my ski mask, would I be asked to remove that also?

Heh, just noticed that myself the other day while waiting for the ATM. You think the bad guys will listen?

I wear a helmet liner in cold weather. All the way closed in front when really cold or while getting gas. Then, if I go inside, I open 'er up by velcroing in the back as a courtesy. (Though I do not take it all the way off)

But most people know me as not too many use the helmet liners which IMHO are the best hats ever invented.

I don't know if they issued to Marines but Army cold weather units got them. If you are not familiar, check out a surplus store. They are lightweight, versatile, cheap, and most importantly, warm.

The downside is that the slots for the chin strap are good for the steel pots (I never had kevlar) and motorcycle strap is too low for the existing holes.

Back on topic: I think the signs are a courtesy request and not a requirement which is nice. And it sure beats no firearms signs.

Just as with "NO GUNS" signs.. the only people who will follow it are the people who are not the target of the problem they seek to address. CRIMINALS.

Sign accomplishes absolutely nothing to alleviate the issue that prompted them.

Bank mangers apparently have the IQ of a snail.

If my bank ever puts a "no guns" sign up, I'll have to walk through the drive-in window.
