The 14th was aimed at participants in the American Civil War.

Was the Jan 6 political protest "just like" the Civil War?

    No, it was not.

But the riots that killed people and burned buildings and seized control of American territory, THOSE were more like the Civil War. And Kamala and others RAISED MONEY TO HELP THEM. Other Dems spoke up to praise them, giving them aid & comfort.

Plenty of Dems are vulnerable to this argument, if we accept that a violent mob = insurrection.

Run with that idea. Disqualify dozens of Democrats in friendly Red state courts, or by Republican officials empowered to disqualify "insurrectionists".

Worst case, we lose those because "mere riots don't rise to the level of insurrection". Best case, we kick a bunch of commies out of Congress & the White House.

The Confederate States of America had its own Constitution, President and Legislature, its own military and collected taxes originally meant for FedGov.

The "insurrectionists" on Jan 6 2021 did none of these things. I've asked Progs who was in charge and what was the chain of command of this insurrection? "Trump" they shriek. Trump was not there, so who was in charge? Raymond Epps? Mr./Ms X?

The people who filed into the Capital building were probably violating some minor rule, such as being in good order. People who went into Congressional offices were trespassing. They could possibly be charged with interfering with Congress, which is a serious charge. Sufficient to merit some static for Trump, who did get behind "stop the steal" even while he asked people to be peaceful.

Trump has to realize that the 'swamp' is going to be opportunistic. If he can't get his head around this, he needs to find a new job. There probably were FBI on site, possibly to agitate, but also to hem them in.

The summer of 2020 "protesters" were lighting up the Federal Building in Portland Oregon. Mayor Wheeler refused to move on them, at least until after Trump lost. After Biden won ANTIFA issued death threats against Wheeler. Since Biden dismisses ANTIFA as an idea, I'm not sure anything happened. While you can indict a ham sandwich, I'm not so confident of indicting an idea.

In Seattle a section of the city called "Capital Hill" was taken over as "CHAZ/CHOP". Capital Hill Autonomous Zone/Capital Hill Occupied Protest. The police station in the "zone" was occupied after police were chased out. Streets were blocked off. In violation of Washington State law, rifles were handed out to volunteers without Brady Checks. A CHAZ/CHOP police was constituted.

This police force murdered at least one person.

Mayor Durkin said, "It's the summer of love". Her admission, which she recanted, suggests that some of these old fart Progressives were living their parent's days of protesting the Vietnam war.

Eventually the "occupation" was crushed. Only 25 people were arrested, who knows if any were taken to court and convicted.

Vice President Harris is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. I don't know if its social anxiety or she's just not fast on her feet but she can't string a coherent sentence together. Perhaps she is multilingual and has to think in a different language, her Mom is from South Asia. Most likely? She's abusing recreation drugs, she is from California.

They're not real Marxists.... as one friend of mine, who grew up in the Soviet Union and understands these things said, "They like to talk a lot, and that's all that they do".

The closest thing to American progressives is a Peronista. When you consider the popularity of Pope Francis, this makes some sense. Peron was almost a fascist and in most regards sure acted like one.

These people do not think, they emote.

Nothing to me quite says it all like the CHAZ/CHOP community garden. Also known as the "BLM community garden". It's located at Cal Anderson Park in Seattle. Maybe forty square feet of land. Wouldn't feed anyone more than a few days. Total waste of space for practical purposes.

The BLM organizers could expand this garden. They collected millions of dollars. Nope, though they bought themselves some nice houses. $12,000,000 was spent on luxury housing.

Gardens of similar size can be found next to Edgar Thompson works in Braddock, with God knows what growing into the food. ET has been there for over a century. A century of steel making might have left something in the soil?

Another garden can be found in Harrisburg.

Some strange strain in Progressive thinking about these gestures. Kind of like how they weathered the War on Drugs for fifty years but now want the same failed strategy used on guns.

Oh sorry - the Google Map was not accurate. After some court work Seattle ripped them out.

"City officials said in a statement that the “makeshift,” temporary garden was being removed because of public health and safety concerns, as well as for maintenance reasons including reseeding and turf restoration."

    https://nypost.com/2023/12/28/news/s...and-vandalism/

BLM has enough scratch to buy private land for this purpose in Seattle? If they care about a garden, they can bankroll one.
