    US Supreme Court declines to hear arguments challenging Illinois ban on owning and selling high-power semi-automatic rifles and high-capacity magazines

    US Supreme Court cases: Highest court will not hear Illinois assault weapons ban case

    WASHINGTON -- The U.S. Supreme Court will not hear the Illinois assault weapons ban case, an order from the highest court said Thursday.

    Last month, a federal appeals court ruled that Illinois' assault weapon ban does not violate the U.S. Constitution, which set up a likely appeal to the U.S. Supreme Court.

    From what I read, they are waiting for it to go through the lower courts first, then it can be appealed to the Supreme Court.

    I guess states are allowed to ban certain forms of speech, religion, media, etc
