Ammo prices set to rise again?
I’ve been reading reports on many gun related sites that ammo prices will be going up 5 to 15 percent at the start of next year due to a gunpowder shortage. They all go back to an article in Newsweek. So take that into consideration if you are thinking about stocking up going into an election year.

I don't think they ever came down.

5.56 has gone from high 300's to mid 500's. 9mm hasn't moved much from what I've seen. 5.7 has come down considerably.

I use Titegroup for all of my handgun loads and have a stock I bought for around $20/lb pre-covid. It looks like it's still available but is now around $28 or so.

Re: Ammo prices set to rise again?
My shooting life has been long but not all that prolific and my total rounds shot is in the low tens of thousands. I'm pretty well stocked with reloading supplies so at my current shooting rate, there should be some available at my memorial auction. Now if I could only find that box of 9mm heads that I know is around here somewhere.

Re: Ammo prices set to rise again?
Just glancing through the posts here, and some of the specific examples of
price increases...
I just don't understand what this has to do with guns, or ammo, or the 2A,
or the government, or the military-industrial complex, or foreign wars.
The price increases being shown seem to fall in line with today's inflated prices
for everything, from groceries to gasoline, from ammo to rent to automobiles and
beyond.
Shortages can be artificial. Supplies of just about anything can be choked at some
element on the source side of things, or shelves can be emptied by panic buying.
Think critically about the causes or reasons for panic buying such as folks being
whipped into a frenzy. The media, the industry, fear-mongering by people who stand
to profit from an unrestrained surge in sales, or by people who want themselves and
their friends to stock up before things get even more ugly.
Like a lot of folks here I still remember prices for guns and ammo and related items
in the '60s and 70s when I started buying. And I remember hearing about the even lower
prices from up to 50 years before that.
There are a couple arms and calibers I would like to add to my current collection but we
can survive with what we have in terms of arms, and we made sure we had 1,000 - 2,000
rounds of ammo for every single weapon in the gun safes.
Maybe I'm just a slacker and bad gun owner if I don't blow through 1,000 rounds every trip
to the range 3 times a week. Or add to my gun collection with a new item twice per month.
I'm truly grateful to those who do, to the extent they keep the industry healthy.
That's enough. Here ends yet another of my curmudgeonly and overly verbose rants.
I hope I didn't piss anybody off. While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.
