I ended up picking up a Walther PDP. It's the compact with the 4" barrel, included a red dot for 600. Just liked the way the grip fit and felt compared to some of the others. Will hopefully have it out shooting steel on Wednesday night. Hitting the range tomorrow with it.

If you are on a budget, (compared to the CZ Shadow) these SARS are very nice! I do my own action jobs, and my buddy who has a shadow said my trigger was nicer then his factory one. I also had mine milled for a dot sight*. But I was stupid enough to sell it
When something else caught my eye*. It is one (of many), that I regret selling and wish I could get it back!

Took my Walther to the range today and was extremely happy with how it shot. Only put 50nrounds through, took some time getting the red dot dialed in. But. By the time I was done, I was able to nail the plates on the dueling tree at my range with relative ease at 25 yards. For being a smaller framed gun, it shoots remarkably well. The trigger is decent, short reset. The grip just fits and bites into your hand without being overly harsh. I could see this becoming a multipurpose gun for me.

I don't shoot Steel Challenge much anymore but when I did Glocks and M&P were all over the place. I used an M&P with an upgraded trigger. Lots of accessories, holsters, optics etc. available. M&P also has the benefit of the PCC that shares the magazines as your pistol

I picked up a Sig X5 last year for shooting the plate league and couldn't be happier.

I have both the Sig p320 legion and the FN 509 Edge LS. both are great shooting. MSRP on both are slightly out of your budget but if you look around you might be able to find a deal on one.

Thumbs up Re: Looking for a new pistol for steel plate shoots, suggestions?

A new P320-M17 combined with a SIG Romeo-X Pro optic is a good choice.

    M17

    Romeo-X Pro

    Inexpensive magazines
