Asian longhorned ticks, not found in the United States before 2017, are now present in 17 states, including Pennsylvania.

It remains unclear how much of a threat they pose to humans.

But they had an alarming impact on a farm in Ohio, where Ohio State researchers concluded a 2021 infestation of Asian longhorned ticks was responsible for the deaths of three cattle, including a previously healthy adult bull.

Whyizzit that every modern pestilence has "Asian" and "invasive" associated with it? The pestilence enters the country with Chinese made goods? Air flights from China? On wooden pallets or other packaging? There's supposed to be rigorous inspection, quarantining and delousing of bulk packaging but I suppose that the USDA officials and their congressional oversight committees have been bought and paid for also.

( Their claim to fame was that they made the white stiffener materials within Johnny Carson brand suits )
Anyway, the material they made was produced from goat hair shipped in from Arab nations.
Really big bails of goat hair .
The receiving guys would tell me
When they would cut the bails loose, wierd critters were set free , off into the woods all around the factory.
I often wondered if they survived and what the consequences were.
Never saw any inspectors there, but I was a contractor, not on the daily work force.
