Concealed carry at your local gun club/range
I'm curious, does your club allowed concealed carry on the grounds? Please include the name of the club if you respond. I'd like to see how many 'different' places do or do not. Not talking about drawing from a holster to shoot or anything else, just simply allowing concealed carry. The club I belong to does not but is considering it. It has long been run by a bunch of old time fudds who are scared and do not want to allow it. This has come up many times over the years but actually has a shot as passing this time.
I know it's seems like an anti gun move to not allow it but in my part of the state there are not many choices, and the club I belong to is literally 6 minutes from home.Last edited by soberbyker; November 13th, 2023 at 10:30 AM.

Yes. Our rules are short and sweet as they should be. No fiddy BMG (I don't see why), no shooting trash that you can't properly clean up, be safe, be safe, be safe and no shooting steel with rifles on the 50 yd range.

Yes. Cherry Ridge in PRNJ
"No one is allowed to carry a firearm anywhere on range property with the following exceptions:
Law enforcement personnel that are on duty and in uniform or displaying credentials
holders of carry permits valid in New Jersey"
However, Drawing from your holster is not permitted. To shoot your holstered weapon, you must remove the holster with the weapon contained therein while the line is hot. then remove it from the holster.

Re: Concealed carry at your local gun club/range
I always assumed my club allowed it and that all gun clubs would. Guess I was wrong about all clubs. It does seem to be an odd thing for a gun club to be against. I belong to the Southern Chester Country Farmers and Sportsmen Association. I*ve always concealed carried without a 2nd thought.
Your post got me looking through the members handbook and I don*t see anything prohibiting it so sounds like my club is a yes, they allow concealed carry.
The handbook is here. https://sccsfa.org/Resources/Documen...r-Handbook.pdf

Yes. York Rifle range. http://www.yorkriflemen.org/
In fact, the treasurer open carries at the meetings.
Like elsewhere, I also open carry at the range and
any meetings I attend.
On the pistol range my carry piece is one of the firearms
I am shooting so it remains safe behind the firing line.
On the rifle range is stays on my belt loaded and chambered
even as I walk to my target.
No one has ever said a word and I have never seen anything in
the club's rules, policies, or restrictions about it.
N.B.: York's QRT (Quick Response Team) regularly uses our range
for practice, and our former U.S. Rep Todd Platts (and currently Judge
for the York County Court of Common Pleas) and his son also
use our range. I have been on the firing line and in the clubhouse
and had conversations, with both.Last edited by Curmudgeon; November 14th, 2023 at 06:07 PM.
While many claim to support the right, precious few support the practice.

So far the results are as I suspected that would be. I want to have this included in the debate, that "our" club is the only one around that does not allow law abiding LTCF holders to CC on club grounds. Thanks to those who've responded.

Re: Concealed carry at your local gun club/range
I joined one range, and during the introductory remarks their expert explained that no open carry was allowed, and he said the words "concealed means concealed" in explaining why our LTCF's were limited, in his imagination. I forget what he said about concealed carry, except that I'm sure drawing and firing from concealment would have been a Fudd No-No.
I never went back, never renewed.
There are overwhelmingly sound reasons to allow and even encourage members to carry concealed at a range, the chief one being that thugs can target gun ranges for gun thefts, sometimes accompanied by killing the witnesses. There are documented instances of this. If the range rules specify that the only user at the moment MUST leave his guns at the bench and walk unarmed to check his targets 100 yards away, who exactly is preventing robberies? The rules are requiring that he (a) be unarmed, and (b) leave his guns and ammo where the bad guys can get them.
To paraphrase Willie Sutton, "that's where the guns are".
