Big cities going downhill
Has anyone noticed that if you go to a downtown area of a bigger city these days it seems like they just have all gone downhill. Everyone on the street tries to get your attention to give them extra money. It’s just crazy to me how bad things have gotten.

Re: Big cities going downhill
Have you noticed that the suburbs that surround the bigger city have also gone downhill?
It starts in the center and works it's way outward.
Has always been this way - just gets progressively worse over time.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!

But then they get gentrified and young people move in. Its the circle of life.
I don't think cities are worse now than in the 70's and except for the ghetto areas they are safer. Just look what is happening to Bethlehem.

Re: Big cities going downhill
It's not just bigger cities, we're seeing it in smaller towns as well. 10 years ago I'd never see someone begging at a corner but now it seems it happens at least once a month. 10 years ago I never saw homeless people but now I have seen people living in tents by the river and loitering in local parks.

Re: Big cities going downhill
Everything the democrats touch turns to cow crap.
All part of the design in the real estate cycle.
Eventually once prices fall enough by wrecking it, they will kick all the homeless bums and drug junkies out, buy cheap, bulldoze some stuff, "gentrify" others and turn it into a hip tech hub or whatever the fad is at the time. Sell out when prices are high.
It's a multi decade cycle.

Re: Big cities going downhill
I saw one of those campsites about 20'ish years ago in Pittsburgh. I broke down right beside it along SR28 about 3am on a my way from Weirton WV to Brookville.
I climbed up the bank from 28 to the brushy area to take a piss and ran into a bunch of tents, a campfire ring, etc. Had to sleep with one eye open until daybreak when a flatbed finally came to get my old Buick to haul me to a Pepboys so that I could buy & change my alternator(in their parking lot).
When I took the screen shot below for markup of location, if you drop into streetview you can still see a camp there.RIP: SFN, 1861, twoeggsup, Lambo, jamesjo, JayBell, 32 Magnum, Pro2A, mrwildroot, dregan, Frenchy, Fragger, ungawa, Mtn Jack, Grapeshot, R.W.J., PennsyPlinker, Statkowski, Deanimator, roland, aubie515

It's been going to shit for a while now. Decades even. It's just a constant mess.
In other news, I'm going to philly today to visit my daughter in college and take her food. I'll be packing heat and wearing IIIa body armor.iAnal
