Trijicon
Are the Trijicon ACOG scopes worth the money? I was told they're great for low light situations but in the sun with the tritium they're just about useless.

Re: Trijicon
Yes, they're defenitley worth the money. Trituim doesn't really work well in the sun, look at night sights for example.

Re: Trijicon
How sunny does it have to be before the scope is useless? I see our troops in Iraq using them so the sun doesn't affect them that much?

Re: Trijicon
The reticle appears black during the day, and comes into color as it gets darker.

Re: Trijicon
I was under the impression that they disappear during the day. I couldn't figure out why someone would pay $800 for a scope that was useless during the day. thanks for clarifying that.

Re: Trijicon
Um.....the Trijicons with the fiber optic get brighter in daylight (see the red tube?). The Tritium is used for low light.
Many are not simply powered by tritium!

Re: Trijicon
The issue is that the tritium tends to get washed out at night when using a tactical (white) light or if the shooter is in a darkened area and the target is out in bright sunlight. This was the same criticism of the Trijicon Reflex. Is it a deal breaker? No.
The quality of the optical glass is outstanding.
