Default New PA resident with questions

Hi everyone! Sorry to ask general questions, but after searching for an hour decided I better reach out. Former New York resident, so understandably careful! I believe from what I’m reading that in PA if I purchase a new gun I can transport it from the store to my house in my car without issue, as long as the bullets are in a separate area in my car, and the gun is not loaded. Is that correct? My second and more important question is, do I need to, and if yes how do I, register a gun in Pennsylvania that I already own? I’m not seeing anything about registering guns in Pennsylvania for residents so I’m wondering if it’s not even required? I currently own 2 that were given to me by my ex-husband, and unfortunately I wasn’t given the bill of sales or anything. Reaching back out to him now is not an option; it was not an amicable split and has been 4 years. Thanks in advance for your help! Happy to now reside in a reasonable state!! 😁

    Yes, correct.

PA has no registration, although you can go to your local FFL and pay to have your guns/firearms transferred to you, even though they are already yours under the law.
It might help to have that paper trail in case and Officer with too much caffeine runs
your serial numbers and they show them owned by someone who is not you.

Lastly, get to the web site for the Jefferson County Sheriff, download the application
for your Pennsylvania License To Carry Firearms (PA LTCF). It's $25.00 for 5 years,
and PA is a SHALL ISSUE state. That License will make being a gunowner much easier
    in a number of ways.

    Scroll down to LTC Application.
    Good luck!

HA, so did I, I guess a mod moved it.

Yes on transporting gun to your home and to a range or gunsmith but nowhere else without a license to carry firearms (LTCF). The license to carry is cheap and easy enough to get that I'd recommend getting one. I do not believe that you need to do anything regarding the guns you already own, provided nobody tries to claim that they are stolen. I am not a lawyer (IANAL).

If the gun moves into the state with him, it won't come back to anyone at all in the PSP ROS database, unless by some wild coincidence it had a previous life here, before making it's way out of state and into the OP'S hands. Anything bought new, out of state, won't be on record here at all, unless the OP decides to do the "transfer to himself" business.

Not recommended, why would someone want to let the .gov that they have something the .gov wants to take away ?

I agree, I'd keep what I had to myself, reporting it is not necessary.

I never said it was necessary, but it has been argued both ways,
right here, with valid reasons on both sides of the discussion.

If I *EDIT* "implied" that it was a requirement then I mis-spoke.

Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government.
