That may not be that far fetched down the road.

I still have plenty of fixin's to make 223 with Hornady FMJBT bullets, Varget, and CCI/Federal primers, all procured before 2020, for around $.21 a round. I've got inventory from 2018 that I haven't expended yet.

I have a stash of about 80lbs of brass, 9mm, 45, 3006, 556, for reloading. Maybe one day I'll get to it.

Maybe that's why Natchez SS is having an inventory reduction sale on Lake City 55 gr. .223 at $499.99 per 1000 and 55 gr 5.56 at $ per box of 20. $9.49

They issued a statement that it's a false rumor. Nothing to it.

Still, election year coming up and the military is switching to the newer next gen caliber so realistically at some point it'll dry up.

(Cue everyone who bought ammo back in the 1900s making fun of the millions of new gun owners the past few years for not buying ammo decades ago. Yes, we know ammo was pennies when TVs were in black and white.)

We wont have to worry about that for a long time. US military is sticking with the M4 and SAW for support troops for what is said decades to come.

I weighed my 5.56/223 brass inventory and it came out to 23 pounds. At about 9.5 gr/case I'm good to go. I just wish I had a corresponding amount of bullets, powder and primers to load all of them.
