Re: Lake City
I still have plenty of fixin's to make 223 with Hornady FMJBT bullets, Varget, and CCI/Federal primers, all procured before 2020, for around $.21 a round. I've got inventory from 2018 that I haven't expended yet.

Re: Lake City
Maybe that's why Natchez SS is having an inventory reduction sale on Lake City 55 gr. .223 at $499.99 per 1000 and 55 gr 5.56 at $ per box of 20. $9.49

Re: Lake City
They issued a statement that it's a false rumor. Nothing to it.
Still, election year coming up and the military is switching to the newer next gen caliber so realistically at some point it'll dry up.
(Cue everyone who bought ammo back in the 1900s making fun of the millions of new gun owners the past few years for not buying ammo decades ago. Yes, we know ammo was pennies when TVs were in black and white.)

Re: Lake City
I weighed my 5.56/223 brass inventory and it came out to 23 pounds. At about 9.5 gr/case I'm good to go. I just wish I had a corresponding amount of bullets, powder and primers to load all of them.
