It's not a 9mm, but if you're gonna buy a gun that's of no real use (no way to properly aim it), then just get a 22 and plink the fuck away for cheap!

The original M&P 15/22 pistol was really cool as well. Only a 4” or 5” barrel, I can’t remember. My brother in law has one. Lots of fun. I’m always checking on gunbroker for one to pop up. My 15/22 rifle has been flawless and is usually the one I grab first for fun plinking. Only gripe is the quad rail. That was addressed in the current version.

I'd go with the Scorpion, I've got one in the regular rifle configuration and it shoots really well. I sort of regretted not finding one in a pistol configuration with the brace but now that it's in limbo I guess not. I do like that the stock folds up making it still fairly compact until you're ready to shoot.

Love my ap5p... but one more to consider (although just outside your price range) is the mdp9 - which is also R-delayed but takes glock mags and uses AR15 fire control (for parts compatibility and triggers). Every youtuber has taken a solid dump on them but mine is 500+ rounds in and flawless w 124gr and some 115gr ... and before everyone loses their shit on the price, mine was $1400 new off GB (not $2400). I think the crap reviews swung a sale in my favor. I cheekweld shoot it w a red dot on a scalarworks 1.93" riser, like my ap5p, and bc of the R-delay systems, your jaw doesnt get beat up thereby keeping the small form factor and negating any need for a brace.

I have 2, Scorpions , 2 Ap5s, and an Ar9, it really depends on what you are going to do with the gun. Ap5's are the best to suppress, but don't do well with hollow points. The Scorpions eat everything,, but feel like they are beating themselves to death when you put a can on them
The Ar9 is OK, not the best at anything, but reliable.

So, shot a full auto MP5 last week, along with a full auto mp40. The choices above are no longer as enticing s they once were.
