Bear six

Just got back from a week in Allagash and the Northwoods of Maine bear hunting with Matt Morgan’s Allagash Wilderness Camps, a great outfit. I got a small bear this time, my fifth trip and fifth bear with Allagash Wilderness Camps. It was very hot—in the high 80s almost all week—so the pickings were low. When I mentioned that to another outfitter, he said, “When Matt Morgan has a low kill rate, you know everybody does!” A very nice compliment coming from a competitor!

Sounds like you made the best of it. Did you use a bow, rifle, pistol, crossbow?

I used a Savage 30.06 180 gr. sst. Gotta say every bear shot with that combo, went down with one shot, I'm sticking with it I took the first bear I saw because I took my wife Wonderful, and wanted to show her the area, turned out to be a good decision.
