Nooby AR Part Questions/Advice?
I think I finally found a stripped lower! Yay! My next question becomes where to find the lower part kits, and which to buy? are they all kind of standard, just have to find one? Also, do complete uppers come with the bolt/carrier/charging handle? Any specifics to look for there?
I'm making this as a 16" M4 replica, mainly as a plinker, but a grab-n-go PDW for a SHTF gun.
Thanks! Please forgive my AR nubness..

Re: Nooby AR Part Questions/Advice?
You can get a lower parts kit with a standard single stage trigger, or one with a 2 stage trigger. Single stage triggers are cheaper, and it is not a big deal.
You can buy a DPMS, Rock River or Stag lower parts kit.
Most upper halves do come with bolt/carrier/charging handle, but there are some that I have seen that didn't. That would be specified from where ever you would be getting it from.Last edited by RONNIE77; November 26th, 2008 at 12:10 AM.

These guys have some stuff left. Other than that it is a 2-16 month wait depending on the company. Buy mags now. Go to your local gun stores. If you can afford it buy a complete rifle, there is a severe shortage from all suppliers, but local stores may have inventory. Good luck.
Things may go either way. I feel that in a few months things will slow down and parts and guns will be available again, but maybe they won't....

There are a ton of websites for AR parts and accessories.
I personally like Lewis Machine & Tool
Their upper halves are great.

I also like Rock River Arms.
Check out the lower parts kits.

Re: Nooby AR Part Questions/Advice?
They keep the hammer/trigger pins in the lower receiver from rotating. It's like extra insurance for guys with F/A, or a really expensive lower build you just want to have that extra insurance on.
If the pins don't rotate either some people think that you'll get improved trigger feel as well because you are having engagement over the same surfaces over and over.
They look pretty neat too.

check out ar15.com for more info when you are looking for parts. Some of the sight sponsors are good to deal with.
