Default Broke my Ten Point crossbow.

I bought a Ten Point Wicked Ridge Invader cross bow about 12 years ago after shooting one at Cabelas in Ann Arbor.
Advertised at 330 fps, I shot quite a few deer with it.
About 3 or 4 years into using it, I was up in my tree and noticed fiberglass strands sticking out of both limbs. Not sure what was going on but called my archery shop and was told not to shoot it anymore.
Delamination of the arms was an issue but Ten Point made it good at no charge to me.
However, it was in the middle of early archery and the turn around was 2 to 3 weeks.
I saw another 10 Point Stealth FX4 hanging there for about $700 and impulse bought it so I could keep hunting. That was 7 years ago.
I shot 6 buck in 6 years with it and love this bow.
This year, I took it out, checked all the bolts, waxed the string I had replaced last season, lubed the rail and took one practice shot at 20 yards.
Perfect Point of impact and happy.

The next day, I went to the range, shot my Tikka, Rem 7mm and Henry before going to a 70 yard pistol bay to check how the bow would hit at distances up to 65 yards ( I would never take a shot over 40 and my longest archery shot ever was 31 yards 2 years ago).

I set up at 20. First shot sounded wierd and hit 8 inches low and 6 inches right.
WTF? I checked the cable and pulleys. All good until.i saw one limb split down the middle. Kind of ruined my day but it's still a few weeks till early archery ( 16 Sept ).
Since Ten Point replaced the arms on the last bow, I assumed they would cover this bow as well. Nope. 5 years on the limbs. So, $ 195, tax, 30 for labor and my cost was around $240.

I emailed Ten Point and was hoping they would take care of it even though the warranty was 5 years. Hope without expectation. I got a return email today stating that 5 years was the limit of replacement..
Although I was a bit bothered that I had 2 of their bows and both had limb failures, they did last for the time they were warranted for.

I do not remember being told the time frame for free replacement.

A new bow similar to what I have was about 8 or 900 bucks so I chose to have it repaired.
At 73 YO, who knows if I'll still be archery hunting past 5 more years from now. I believe if I'm lucky enough to do so and need a new bow, I might consider other brands but I'll cross that bridge at that time.

Quite literally EVERYONE that I know who owns a crossbow eventually has a failure. It doesn't matter if it cost them 400 bucks or a grand. I hope you are able to make it out .

Sounds like the parts were available.
Archery shop assured me it'll be done well before the season starts.
Last years buck was Jan 6th so it's a lengthy season.
Usually too hot for me in early archery after about 10 AM.

I.never really checked the life expectancy on crossbows but sounds like you're right. Another friend had delamination in his Xbow limbs too.
Guy I know has a Stryker. 13 years , no issues to date.

    So camp has a decent 8.point, a 6 a 5 and a nontypical 2 point.
Looks like the backyard buck are a bit better developed and numerous.
Had 5 doe at camp so hoping for 2E doe.

Salt blocks are gone. Usually means less traffic .

Rifles are good. Gotta shoot the revolvers more.

You're losing glass on that bow. Ahh, it'll hold.

Hey 27hand, sucks that you need lay that kind of money out on the crossbow. Better that you find the problem now then when you*re up in a tree stand and the buck of a lifetime comes by or worse. That reminds me, I need to get my Mission 320 out of the closet and check it before the season opener.

Yeah, these crossbows are not heirloom type weapons. With the tremendous stress and pressures they operate under, failure is inevitable. Not to mention the fact that you keep them cocked for hours on end while hunting.

That sucks 27Hand. Thank goodness it wasn*t an injury causing failure.

PSA: Was told by my shop to always use a bolt/field tip combination similar to what you hunt with if you decock by launching into bag or backstop. Never use the disposable plastic little bolts you can buy in a tube. They*re too light and one more thing to cause problems for the limbs.

Archery shop called while I was in Homer City.
Bow has new limbs and ready to.pick up tomorrow.

Not sure if I shoot more than my friends but from my backyard treestand, I discharge the bow either once or twice a day. My discharge bag is 17 yards from my stand. I use 100 gr field points to discharge and shoot off hand. Many times it's almost too dark to see my yellow bag but I haven't missed it yet.
    Ha. Maybe jinxed myself.
    Got my last 2B tag.

I got a ground blind for the first time.
Almost 5 feet sq base and 3 walls are see through. It came today.https://youtube.com/shorts/AY8ymCBCm...A1npAz_Fkumhey

I scouted my 6 acres, found some trails, a place for the blind, another tree for a climber.
    Dangerously close to being ready.
