Speaking of polishing turds... I refinished the barrel. Starting out with a green scuff pad removed the thin areas of corrosion, followed by a medium diamond file to level the slightly deeper pits, and ending with 400 grit.

Oxpho-Blue did a great job, but I noticed the finish is toward black rather than blue. I like treating cold blues with shoe polish rather than oil. I've ordered some navy blue shoe polish to see if it introduces a little blue to the highlights.
