I always get pissed when I see these news stories about some moron who gets arrested for planning some stupid shit and the first thing they make sure to note is "well he had 11 guns and 10K of ammo!"

Yep, anyone who has been around the gun community for more than a couple of years knows that there are times when ammo is almost impossible to find and the price goes way up. It is just common sense to stock up so you don*t have to sweat it out during those times. I have a feeling there are people on this forum who would give gun controllers a heart attack with what they have.

Is it illegal to cross a state line and buy alcohol or tobacco? Same for ammo? Asking for a friend...

It's a felony to bring more than 1 carton of out-of-state cigarettes into Pennsylvania.

And even with just 1 carton, you are still required to pay PA's cigarette tax on untaxed cartons/packs(like if you buy at a reservation).

Some lady in my region got popped sometime in recent months for more than one untaxed carton, having purchased them up at the Seneca Reservation in NY. I'm not sure how they caught her.

Probably the same way Jersey pops the fireworks people leaving Pa. to go back to NJ. Tax man from Pa. taking license plate #s after someone buys a boat load of smokes.

I am trying to picture surveilling people buying alcohol, tobacco, and ammo out of state then arresting them when they cross the border. . .

. . . Yeah fuck that. What a waste of time. There are actual more dangerous criminals on the street who are real threats to the public.

I admire logical and practical thinking. Sadly, our expectations for the New York government are far too high!!

Pretty sure they could add some sort of scanning device at the PA/NJ boarder bridges. They could bring back the toll takers to flag down suspicious vehicles or persons.
