There must be more to this story---if not, this is bad news for all gun owners. The guy bought a "bunch" of ammo and was alerted to authorities? Just because our government deems an item/action (buying ammo) illegal, who is the one actually committing the crime? Our government or the buyer?

It's a different world in the far left states where the majority have been brainwashed into thinking guns are the root of all evil. A 2A bumper sticker or tshirt is enough to earn a police encounter in some areas. It's possible the kid's age was a factor in raising suspicion as to whether the AR-15 possession was legal. Maybe he made a comment to the shop owner who he mistook for a like-minded individual. Or maybe the shop oiwner just called the ATF and said: "This kid is buying a lot of ammo and I think he's planning something." It doesn't take much in NY/NJ. :/
