Good thing I don't share with my local grocer my intentions for all the toilet paper I stock.
Strange women lying in ponds, distributing swords, is no basis for a system of government.

    That's a shitty analogy.

    From the article:

"An Instagram post showed Alec Hollenbeck holding two assault rifles, prosecutors said."

Yup, just keep posting all those vids and instagram shit or facebook, youtube shit or whatever. Look at me, look at me. Well, someone looked. The wrong someone.

Living 40 miles south of the NYS border provides a little insight. Within the past year or two NYS enacted a new law requiring that all ammo purchases be recorded with name, address, and DL number. There are no forms or unified system; most dealers use a notebook, some dealers created their own forms. That should be it, but lefty sheriffs in lefty NYS counties make a point of checking these records periodically. And some LEO wannabe gun dealers are only too happy to be mom's little helper.

We don't know what "large amounts of ammo" is. Says he purchased weekly for a month, that's only 4 weeks. Suppose he purchased 500 rounds X 4, that's only 2000 rounds.
His stock is a different color than the rest of the rifle, makes me wonder if it isn't a new addition, like maybe he took advantage of the "free" SBR registration but hasn't gotten approved yet. You also have to wonder if the ATF agents found the pistol (without a stock) in a gun safe and the non color matched stock in a closet near by, and put them together to get the charge they needed ??????? That's the way I'm leaning until I hear differently.
I mean honestly, if you have ARs, you've probably got an extra stock or two somewhere, and law enforcement is not above putting a couple pieces together to get the charge they want.

Maybe it's just a 'stock' photo and not one of the actual rifle.

    Maybe.
The takedown pins aren't even fully pushed in, maybe law enforcement took the liberty of putting this guys pistol upper on a rifle lower for him and got their charge that way???? Pretty sure what we are seeing are two separate items that were staged together for a photo.
    They aren't above it.
