Damn! Glad I read this thread, Prompted me to check mine and it expires in 6 weeks. The Gal and I at Lancaster County had a chuckle 5 years ago at my last renewal. I keep the form on PDF on the computer and just changed the date the last two or three renewals. never bothered or checked to change my hair color from red to gray, she said she'd let me slide this time because she can see some faint red, but have it changed by next time!

In and out in about 15 minutes, although some years it can be quite busy

You know I had an LTCF for 30 years but never carried concealed (maybe twice) or open carry, I lived in the suburbs where no violence virtually occurred but I always wanted that option to conceal carry but it brought me peace of mind

I'm fortunate to live and work in (relatively) safe areas as well. The most dangerous part of my day is mixing with the sheep during rush hour traffic.

I also have my ACT-235 along with LTCF for work.

If you live in Washington County Pa it's also a breeze to renew.

Not for nothing, but PA sheriffs in general seem to have a very loose grasp on the law.

Example 1: "You must be here in person" - not true. The law says "The photograph shall be in a form compatible with the Commonwealth Photo Imaging Network." (PA § 6109 (e)(4)). Converting, cropping, or resizing an image can be done by pretty much anyone.

Example 2: The multitude of border-county sheriffs who refuse to accept non-resident applications. This constitutes what is known as a "constructive denial," and as we all know, applicants can only be denied LTCFs based on a limited, well-defined, set of criteria.

Example 3: Some sheriffs, particularly border-county sheriffs, keep adding additional pages/questions to LTCF applications, in direct violation of PA §6109 (c), which states:

The application for a license to carry a firearm shall be uniform throughout this Commonwealth and shall be on a form prescribed by the Pennsylvania State Police. [...] Issuing authorities shall use only the application form prescribed by the Pennsylvania State Police.
SHAME ON THESE LAW-BREAKING SHERIFFS. (To be clear, example 1 is not a violation of the law. Examples 2 and 3 are.)
