Re: Transfer handgun to daughter
I believe she needs to be 21 before she can own a handgun in PA, but I could be wrong. Otherwise, no paperwork is needed - you can give it to her.

Re: Transfer handgun to daughter
We don't need to fill out any paperwork to have it put in her name only? I bought it for her in Oct 2020. She'll be 21 this month.

Re: Transfer handgun to daughter
Both have to be PA residents. As to age:
PA Uniform Firearms Act
§ 6110.1. Possession of firearm by minor.
(a) Firearm.--Except as provided in subsection (b), a person under 18 years of age shall not possess or transport a firearm anywhere in this Commonwealth.

Re: Transfer handgun to daughter
Well, if you WANT it "in her name", then yeah - you'll need to transfer it.
You don't NEED to (legally) - you can just give (gift) it to her, but there are realistically scenarios where things can get difficult.
Say you give it to her and she gets pulled over and for whatever reason, the officer becomes aware that she has the handgun. If he "runs" said handgun, it will come back with your name associated with it. He can either accept her word and use the brains god gave him and figure out that you both have the same name (if that's teh case) and that nothing illegal is going on, OR he can confiscate the gun, and you have to dick around proving who it belongs to.
That's the good and bad of gifting guns to family members - even if done legally, you COULD run into a situation where it gets sticky.
I'm one of the biggest proponents of FUCK the gov when it comes to anyone knowing what guns people own, and I make every effort to legally purchase my long guns face to face, and would be very much on board with gifting guns to my children if I had any, but I can't pretend that it comes without potential problems.
What you decide to do is up to you.I called to check my ZIP CODE!....DY-NO-MITE!!!
