Woman ordered an Uber, thought she was being kidnapped and shot the Uber driver in the head. Now she’s being charge with murder.

From my understanding, you only need reasonable belief that your life is in danger to use lethal force, your life doesn't actually have to be in danger. If she can demonstrate that she actually believed that she was being kidnapped through some reasonable circumstance, she might be ok. It doesn't go into the circumstances, so it's hard to say for sure.

Wild guess: They didn't share a language; she saw signs to Mexico and asked him about them; he didn't answer because of the language issue.
