Augustine. No one could figure out what order you belonged to unless you were told by your Priest. I can't even find which order Dennis Joseph Dougherty was who was the Cardinal of Philadelphia from 1918 -1951. My Father and Aunt both went to West Catholic High which were separate at that time. My Aunt was an exceptional student and ardent Catholic. I was not raised Catholic. My Father disowned the Catholic Church after their treatment of my Aunt and when they went to bury her in 1963 after a car accident. The family and and all of my ancestors including a gg grandfather that served in the 116th Pennsylvania Infantry Volunteers that fought at Gettysburg are all buried in Holy Cross Cemetery in Yeadon. That ended with my Aunt and my Father and my family became Christians. I have no connection to the Catholic Church.

12 years of Parochial education followed by 4 years at a Jesuit university, the church wants us all to be happy socialist belivers and toe the line, turn the other cheek, etc.

Thankfully the concept of free will gets in the way.

My daughters went for instruction and made their most of the sacrements and have since stopped; the oldest's husband insisted he be pulled form a catholic school at a young age and is now a scientist; my grands were not baptized and my wife is slowly getting over it.

I haven't seen the inside of the church since Covid and I will return someday only to keep marital stress to a minimum and my pistol will be inside my wasteband....
