I have the old Eagle / SKD Universal Chest Rig which I think is still the ideal "basic" option. It's no longer made but you might try ebay. It has four AR15 mag pouches, one of which I use as a G19 holster with an accompanying accessory strap. It also has two, dual cell pistol mag pouches atop two of the AR15 pouches. In addition, it has two molle panels on each side.

I just got the Tacticon Elite chest rig with three rifle mag pouches and two pistol mag pouches. The bag is very sturdy and appears well made.

It must be assembled and that's where things went downhill. The male clip on the shoulder strap that attaches to the top of the bag doesn't fit into the female clip. The female clip has a 'guide' in the center that should align with the male part. The problem is that it is an interference fit and even with a fair amount of force will not fully seat. I was afraid of forcing it too much and gave up.

I sent an email to the company outlining the problem and I'm hoping to get an answer. It almost appears as if either the male or female clip are just not designed to fit together. The other clips interchange, but not these two. Both the clips are sewn onto the bag and shoulder strap or I would have just changed them out.

Additionally, AFTER I ordered mine from the company, I found them on Amazon for $59, instead of the $69 I paid. Live and learn.

All in all, it appears very well made and hopefully I can sort out the clip troubles. The last thing is that the waist strap is fairly short. I'm 6'1" and 220 lbs. I could close the strap but that was only over a t-shirt. Other clothing would make it too tight, so count on replacing that strap with a longer piece.

    Thanks for the update!
Hope to hear more. I usually try to check Amazon and Ebay before buying anything, but I was so bogged down in choices when I was researching, I never got that far with the Tacticon.
Appreciate the link. I may buy one if this drought ever ends and I have some better income to play with.
Not a terrible price if the quality is there.

Depending on what style you like (X vs H harness; rigid mag pouches that stay open vs lo-vis elastic that lays flat) this might be a good option.

    https://www.trex-arms.com/store/T-REX-ARMS-Chest-Rig/

Holds up to 3-5 AR mags, 2 pistol mags or tourniquets, and two extra GP pocket for an IFAK, etc.
Can be expanded with Velcro loop field on front for light stuff, if desired. Kinda nice and scalable since you can just ignore the extra pouches if you only want to carry 3 mags or load them all up.

    American made for $75

Watching that overview video ^^^ it's hard not to like what that has to offer if that's the type of rig you are looking for.

This was featured in an email I got from RTG Parts

    https://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/s...lcro+chest+rig

    https://www.robertrtg.com/store/pc/s...=bungee+puller

$27.99 for the bare chest rig - you can add pouches as you see fit.
Pouches are from $3.50 to $7.50
I don't know what the quality of "Mil-Tec" is, but I doubt it's super-high quality at these prices.
    Still, it's an affordable option.

Damn Emptymag, that looks like a winner to me.

I am still emailing Tacticon/Tactical Armament regarding the problem I'm having with their chest rig. I have sent photos to show the interference fit between the male and female clips and am waiting for resolution. From the tone of our emails there is no doubt that they will make this right, it's just annoying to have this thing and not be able to try it out.

As I mentioned, if the clips were not sewn on I would have just replaced them and gone about my day.

This info was posted in the deals thread, so I'm going to share it here as well.
I wish I could snag one now, but I'll have to wait until they run this deal again.

FULLLOAD50 code gets you 50% OFF entire site

OK, I got a few payments early, so I'm able to snatch this up while it's at it's best price possible.

Purchases $50 and over qualify for free shipping.

The chest rig alone comes to $49.98, so that means $5.00 shipping (not bad, really)
    Basically, $55.00 shipped. OK, cool.

    But WAIT!

The DROP POUCH is half price too, making it $10.
If I get the chest rig AND the drop pouch, the total is $60 - and ships FREE.
Definitely the better value to add the drop pouch for only $5 more!!!

I watched in sadness as the Coyote Brown I wanted sell out.
Most colors are sold out now, but black and OD green have some left - I ordered OD green.
