I suspect those fudds will humble you a bit.

Re: John C Garand Matches - Kinda Fuddy?
Isn't affirmation seeking kind of a snowflake trait?
I appreciated your post as well and often thought that for trap. Non issue now when I use a semi auto because I also now use a shell catcher. But from my perspective the difference is that trap is purely fun/sporting whereas service rifle matches could be considered to have a more serious undertone of battle preparedness based on the CMP's origins.
I wouldn't say I need to be humbled. Of course folks who have experience shooting a particular match discipline would score better than someone brand new. My question never had an attitude of I'm a great shooter. It was more confusion of why the rules are setup in a way that conflict with the design and operation of the M1.

I beat R. Lee at one at Perry with my SECNAV M1.
You can load 2 rounds in a reg clip in a x pattern. Or get the 2 shot sled.
So where is this match you speak of? I'd like to do a local one.Owner Trigger Time LLc 01 FFL/NFA Saylorsburg, PA. Sales/Service/Transfers/Training

Re: John C Garand Matches - Kinda Fuddy?
Look around at your local ranges for a CMP / highpower shoot. These are usually on a Sat and usually you don't have to be a member of the club to participate, just a few dollars for targets. The shoots I went to are practice shoots but they go by the official rules. You usually don't compete that day but keep your scores in a personal log so you can see how you improve and you can look at the other competences and see how you stand.
These are the people to ask where the real matches are. They will know all of the upcoming matches in the area.
